Focus: Land Degradation
Day 1:
8:00-9:00 Wake up, Eat breakfast, Meet in meeting room
9:15 Discuss the problems of lad degradation in the Boreal Forest
9:30 Split into groups of 4. Each take 10 coniferous saplings and plant in different areas of the woods. Make sure that each group is assigned with an AIJ counselor
11:00 Meet back as a group in meeting room and discuss any problems that came up while planting. Also discuss the lack of trees in specified area and draw conclusions
12:00 Eat lunch
1:30 Meet in meeting room and learn about the different ways that the land is being degraded. Conclude how during the AIJ trip you can help to stop degradation of the forest
2:30 With the groups of 4 and assigned counselor, walk through Alberta and petition to stop logging
4:00 Snack
Day 2:
8:00-9:00 Wake up, Eat breakfast, Meet in meeting room
9:15 Discuss the overall effects that the degredation of the boreal forest has on the environment
10:00 With group of 4 and counselor, hang up signs that you are given around Banff to stop the degradation of the Boreal Forest
11:00 Meet back in meeting room
11:30 With your group, start the scavenger hunt based on the different tree species in the forest that the AIJ head gives you
12:30 Meet back and eat lunch
1:30 Meet in meeting room and show results of scavenger hunt
2:30 Name the winner of the scavenger hunt
2:35 The winners get a pizza party as well as the rest of the groups!

9:30-10:30 Teach Kids about the Banff Spring Snails and ways to protect it
10:30 Walk from house to house informing Banff residents about the issue of what they learned.
12:00 Meet back up/eat lunch
1:00 Walk around Banff telling people how to prevent this extinction. Similar to earlier.
Day 4:
8:00-9:00 Wake up, breakfast, meeting about plans for the day
10:00 Split up in groups of 4 and go hang signs around water ways (where the Banff Spring Snail lives). The signs say no one is allowed to swim in the the water to protect these snails.
12:00 Meet back up lunch
1:00 To to rivers with the Banff Spring Snails, see them in their habitat.
2:00 Hike up the river to unblock blocked water ways you find to protect the Snail.

9:30-10:30 Spilt into four groups and draw diagrams of what each group believes is the carbon cycle within the biome. Then discuss and select most accurate
11:00-12:00 Review the four steps of the Boreal Forest Conservation Framework set up by the International Boreal Conservation Campaign to reduce the effects of global warming on boreal forests and discuss if any difference will occur
12:15 Contact John Charles MacDonald, a man living in the aboriginal community who spoke with the International Boreal Conservation Campain, in order to confirm the meeting with him the following day
*Also talk to the IBCC confirming the meeting with the top company contributing to the destruction of the boreal forests to talk with the following day

10:00 Arrive at the company and discuss their opinion on the affects of their work on the boreal forest
11:00-11:30 Board buses, arrive at aborginal community, and dicuss how the pollution in the boreal forest affects their lifestyle
12:30 Eat lunch and head back, discussion on bus ride about the bias from each party on the pollution in the boreal forest
